After prolonged closures due to the coronavirus pandemic, movie theaters in the United States and other parts of the world are slowly starting to turn the lights back on, welcome patrons and hear their cash registers ring again.

“SpongeBob,” the third feature film based on everyone’s favorite absorbent, underwater fry cook, amassed $900,000 from 300 theaters in Canada. The animated kids movie scrapped its, where it will launch on premium video-on-demand before landing on CBS All Access, the streaming service owned by the studio’s parent company, ViacomCBS.

“Canadians might be too nice to go to ‘Unhinged,'” Gill said. He’s optimistic that the movie, centering on a young woman who is harassed by an unstable stranger after a road rage altercation, will have a stronger appeal in the U.S. He notes, “82% of Americans have experienced road rage — the highest number in the world.”

Though a handful of independent distributors continued reporting box office grosses during the pandemic, major studios stopped releasing information about ticket sales altogether. Universal’s “Trolls World Tour” and Andy Samberg’s romantic comedy “Palm Springs,” from Neon and Hulu, screened at drive-ins and simultaneously dropped on premium rental services. But those studios didn’t report ticket sales.

Step by step....

it’s hard to see this man on the media. I wanna end him.

That is Russell Crowe? Wow. Imagine a woman having a film career looking anything like that.

We have road rage out here too, dumbasses. 🇨🇦

So what. Who cares?

“Canadians might be too nice”? I’m moving to Canada

Post Pandemic? “...is it over...”(in my Agent Smith voice)😂😂🤷🏾‍♂️

Folks in movie theaters? 🤔

The idea that someone risk death and would pay 20 dollars, at this moment in time, to watch Russell Crowe in Unhinged is well... Unhinged.

'sputters back to life'—unlike so many Americans. Maybe there was a better way to put it.
