Jaeger-LeCoultre first unveiled its Calibre 101 movement in 1929. The master watchmaker had previously toyed with micro-mechanical engineering, assembling Lilliputian movements such as LeCoult, an 1880 invention designed for precious gem- and enamel-detailed watches. Coming in at a length of 14mm and just 4.8mm wide, the hand-wound Calibre 101 weighs scarcely one gram.
The bell-shaped, white-petaled flower inspired a wreath-like band of pear-shaped diamonds encircling the watch’s dial. When mapping out its latest 101 designs, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s team started by sketching the timepiece’s pink gold bracelets first. The manchette-style Snowdrop sparkles with a total of 904 diamonds, including 700 brilliant-cut gems set in a wave pattern along its slim bracelet.
