Denise Johnson dead: Primal Scream singer dies at 53

The sad news was confirmed by her friend on Twitter.

Denise also loaned her vocals to tracks with a string of other artists, including The Pet Shop Boys and Bernard Sumner.The album, entitled Where Does It Go, was scheduled to drop on September 25.Joy Division's Stephen Morris said he was "shocked and devastated". She released solo material in the 1990s, with singles Rays of the Shining Sun, I Believe and Inner Peace.
