“Gone With the Wind” has returned to HBO Max after it was pulled from the streaming service earlier this month.

AT&T’s WarnerMedia pulls ‘Gone With the Wind’ from HBO Max but plans to return it with disclaimers about the 1939 film’s ‘painful stereotypes.’in a Los Angeles Times opinion piece that WarnerMedia should consider removing “Gone With the Wind” from its streaming service.

“It is a film that glorifies the antebellum south,” Ridley wrote. “It is a film that, when it is not ignoring the horrors of slavery, pauses only to perpetuate some of the most painful stereotypes of people of color.” After Ridley’s comments, WarnerMedia, which oversees HBO Max, removed the movie from its service and said that it planned to return “Gone With the Wind” after adding further information.

“Still, it is important that classic Hollywood films are available to us in their original form for viewing and discussion,” Stewart said. “They reflect the social context in which they were made and invite viewers to reflect on their own values and beliefs when watching them now.”

either it's only america or just when it's at the expense of black people, racist propaganda upheld as heritage. It's not Birth of a Nation's fault the kkk use it indoctrination and it's certainly not US education's fault that non-minorities barely know the truth of the past

There's also the problem of the rape scene that is falsely depicted as romantic.

Scarlett is a great example of who not to be and that’s important to see. She’s flawed, vain, greedy... “I won’t think about that today, I’ll think about that tomorrow” is what we’ve done for so long in society and we can see how miserably that failed for her and The South.

This post is deeper than me:(

Censorship isn’t a solution.

Parental controls for parents. I can see it now. TV's that filter racism. Maybe China could manufacture them? But then we would find a way to work around it. I remember getting around AT&T's owning the phones.

Well, thank goodness. Now, all the people who complained about it being removed, but never watched it or even knew it was on HBO to begin with can continue on with their life and still not watch it.

Slavery is bad m’kay?

That filth.

Pathetic pandering

Also, it is now called Gone with the Farts.

Are we in junior high? Is HBO Max the projector monitor?

What would do to the KING JAMES BIBLE IF YOU COULD REVISIONIST COMMIES?

É história! aconteceu

HBO assumes wr are too stupid to figure it out! Rediculous!

Good move!

I feel so protected now. Music lyrics next?

I was a moderate. Believed (still do) in a woman’s right to choose, LGBT rights, all men and women created equal and deserve equal treatment + opportunity. But as soon as govt started controlling thought and the national narrative? Cancel culture? Fuck you. GOP for freedom

Frankly, I don't give a Dean!

Great now anybody who bitched about missing that movie has to sit down and watch the whole 238 minutes of boredom.

Frankly, my dear: I don't give a damn. I won't watch that racist tract no matter what kind of fig leaf HBO puts on it.

And the pendulum begins to swing back... 😒

It was fiction turned into a 4 hour movie.

Queen Latifah has power, y'all.

Both subscribers might not have noticed yet.

Is it worth watching? I’ve never seen it.

Overrated ... And sucks actually
