'The events in the last several weeks have firmed our resolve as a company to confront difficult societal issues,' said a Warner Bros. spokesperson. Read the full statement here:

How much can one controversial tweetstorm cost? That's the burning question as Warner Bros., Universal Parks & Resorts and Scholastic execs all grapple with the fallout after Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, 54, spent part of Sunday tweeting her views on cisgender and transgender women, who she said, by nature of biology, will never be the same.

Even Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe, couldn't bite his tongue and published a lengthy response Monday. "Trans women are women," the 30-year-old actor. "Any statement to the contrary erases the identity and dignity of transgender people and goes against all advice given by professional health care associations who have far more expertise on this subject matter than either Jo or I," he continued, referring to the author by her first name.

Rowling detailed abuse she has faced on social media as a result of her opinions on the subject and closed her missive by writing, "All I want — is for similar empathy, similar understanding, to be extended to the many millions of women whose sole crime is wanting their concerns to be heard without receiving threats and abuse."

, which earned $814 million worldwide. It is unclear if the polarizing missive will prompt fans to bail. , a spokesperson for Warner Bros. said: "The events in the last several weeks have firmed our resolve as a company to confront difficult societal issues. Warner Bros.’ position on inclusiveness is well established, and fostering a diverse and inclusive culture has never been more important to our company and to our audiences around the world.

I’m done with jk_rowling She could come with another Harry Potter book. I wouldn’t read it . Keep your old times views to yourself. The new generation loves all people.

Controversial ? Only in wacky do wacky land

Ok, it's getting tiresome. She expressed her opinion. Get over it.

It’s funny because they made this nothing statement but def aren’t going to pull any of her content. Why? Because she literally makes them millions of dollars. And that’s what they care about.

Oh man, oodles of sequel cash takes on desire to be press release woke. This should be a good one.

let’s let people have opinions

This queen can say whatever tf she wants

Twitter: 'Warner Bros. has responded.. ' - Article: 'But Warner Bros. is silent...' 🤔

Warner Brothers, enough of the insane virtue signaling, taking down gone with the wind, thinking Elmer fudd without a gun is real change and now this. Whatever gets good press and profits

JK Rowling is 100% right.

Nobody cares what any of them thinks

the ones that own CNN? no shit. 😂

Fuck jk_rowling, she dead to us now.

JUST love how HYPOCRITICAL HOLLYWOOD always is!Now they have this pathetic display where they'take responsibility'for various&newly found racial discrepancies! What about all the kids you idiots grind up for milkshakes? They need to take responsibility for the rape&murder of kids!!

It's very interesting how a certain crowd wants to make an example of her. The same crowd went after Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie for saying something as anodyne as transgendered woman and women born female don't have the same experience.

Is Rowling trying to say she’s transgender, after all this.

Want to fight for something? Fight for this

Defund Hollywood.

Is she still a TERF?

stop giving her attention

A perfect example of a celeb who has a GOD like complex! There was no reason for her to spread her ignorant ideas on a social platform. Her ignorant ideas fueled hate towards a group of people that would’ve been best left unsaid.

Warner Bros should be consistent with their woke BLM support (the fake one they’re adapting through Nov 3 anyway) & cancel all ties with Harry Potter, Batman & all DC titles, Stephen King, & Clint Eastwood. All white-led films. How racist! Their white studio heads should resign.

Anything not woke is “controversial.”

what are they supposed to say? that an intelligent 50+ woman is not allowed to voice her own beliefs & opinions? Is that what we have become? Fck the twitter pitchforkers & cancel cultre that just wants to destroy the careers of anybody who doesnt agree with them. FVCK THEM

The 2nd movie was crap anyway.

There’s is a mountain of serious issues that make this issue completely irrelevant.

She's 100% right.

Maybe people should just mind their own business and keep their opinions to themselves where they belong. What a stupid hill for her to die on.

In what respect is a trans woman anything other than a delusional psychotic. Universal's submission to these loons is understandable economically but not justified. 'XY Chromosomes non femina'.

It's called free of speech. You can agree or not. Living in freedom and in a democracy implies accepting what we do not agree with.

Everyone’s got a right to their opinion. The cast made multi multi millions because of Rowling. The least they should do is shut up.

Just think of all the more positive things THR could use their platform for but really tweet about Woody Allen and one person’s awful opinion.

How many times does this need to be posted? It's an opinion!!! Her opinion! As valid as yours, mine or anyone else's. If it bothers you no one is forcing you to hear/read it

My confusion with this controversy is this: you deadass cannot change your biological sex. Other biological factors of sex can be manipulated (hormones, genitilia), but a Y chromosome cannot become an X chromosome. Wasn't that her claim that triggered this?

cancelus ignorus

I also was once a victim of sexual assault. Astoundingly, it did not turn me into a hateful bigot.

Really? She went with the 'Kevin Spacey excuse'... Bold for sure...

Look you have two options here either you accept how this woman is in her views etc or just move on from her. She’s not going to change & she is allowed to have her opinions. Personally I ignore her but still enjoy the Harry Potter books.

pretty sure that if you look at her past, her abuse was at the hands of cismen not trans women. her transphobia is disgusting, as is all transphobia

She poured her heart out and yet she is still being criticized for not subscribing to group think, for being a human being and having individuality, personal experiences and opinions. Why? This “group think” got us here today ... there is no need for it.

A third of all women are survivors of serious sexual violence/rape. Doesn't mean a rich white woman has to go out of her way to be deliberately cruel.

But she spoke facts

But she never said anything wrong though

Oh they should shut the hell up

Why can’t she hAve her say? What happened to free speech

Hollywood colluded with China CCP for empty China cinema but report fake full cinema.

She not making anymore Harry Potter movies and I heard Fantastic Beast is not doing well so might as well end their partnership with her

Why don't they nut up and support her for expressing her (correct) beliefs. Both WB and Universal issued essential non statements. This is utterly ridiculous. There was NOTHING wrong with what she said and nothing she said was excluding anybody.

Just cancel her or does she generate too much money
