GWTW is a love story that takes place during the Civil War. Scarlett loves a man (Ashley) whose heart belongs to someone else (Melanie). Finally in the end, Scarlett realizes that the man (Brett) who truly loved her, finally gave up and left her. Great movie, great casting.

Hattie McDaniel was the first African American actress to win an Oscar for her role in Gone With The Wind and her character was really the moral center of the movie with most of the other characters being morally bankrupt - yes GWTW has its problems but it is a cinematic classic.
