New research has found that BAME women are also suffering greater financial and psychological effects than white women during this pandemic.

Show up by educating yourself and your family.Anxiety about going to work was highest among BAME people, with 65.1% of BAME women and 73.8% of BAME men reporting concerns, compared with 60.9% of white women and 52.9% of white men. For those working from home, 41% of BAME women said they had more work before the pandemic, compared to 28.2% of white women.

Mary-Ann Stephenson, director of the Women’s Budget Group, said: "It is particularly concerning that BAME women are reporting limited access to support from the government. It is crucial that the government carries out and publishes meaningful equality impact assessments on the impact of both the virus itself and their policies in response to it."

End the two-child limit which disproportionately limits BAME families’ financial support. Make advance payments of Universal Credit grants instead of loans, and abolish the benefits cap to ensure the most marginalised families get the support they need.
