Grant Gustin 'saddened and angry' by former Flash costar Hartley Sawyer's offensive tweets

On May 30, Sawyer posted a lengthy apology on Instagram. "My words, irrelevant of being meant with an intent of humor, were hurtful, and unacceptable. I am ashamed I was capable of these really horrible attempts to get attention at that time. This was not acceptable behavior," he said. "I am incredibly sorry, ashamed and disappointed in myself for my ignorance back then. I want to be very clear: this is not reflective of what I think or who I am now.

Warner Bros. TV, The CW, Berlanti Production, and Wallace announced Sawyer's firing in a joint statement on Monday, saying, "We do not tolerate derogatory remarks that target any race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, or sexual orientation." In a second statement issued by Wallace on Monday, the showrunner slammed Sawyer's tweets and connected them to the protests against police brutality that have taken place across the country since"Concerning his social media tweets, they broke my heart and made me mad as hell. And they're indicative of the larger problem in our country," Wallace wrote.

GustinCentral I know it's too late but....what if he's not the same person today as he was 5 years worth of tweets ago ?

I question that I will ever watch the flash again. He apologized without making excuses... No forgiveness, I mean really...!!?

A lot of the 'he's changed' argument going on. I'm not saying that he hasn't, but how can you tell? 'Cause he played a lovable character on a tv show? I'd like to see some of his tweets from the last, say, 5 years or so (since the oldest one used against him is from 2014).

GustinCentral So what exactly is a tit factory?

MrTwitterFingers 🤣

More appropriate headline: 'Grant Gutless Turns On Friend And Co-Worker To Virtue Signal To The World'.

Shocked, saddened and angry over jokes. I would assume he was not a fan of Richard Pryor.

Shouldn’t fire anyone for what they said years ago online. People witch-hunt for no reason

Someone explained to me why in a series where the protagonist sells the idea that bad people can change but in real life, do they do the opposite, cheap populism to sell the series?

And this is how I’m no longer a fan of my favorite show

Kind of makes the whole show/cast hypocritical, since it is about looking for the good in people, forgiveness, etc. even wayward souls. Tweets from 6-8 years ago out of thousands he tweeted, comes back to haunt him & destroy his career. Someone really must hate him!

Cancel culture is ruining the careers of obvious kind and sweet people that are being sarcastic and obviously joking. Every single one of the supporters of this are horrid resentful and spiteful, frustrated people. You should re evaluate your moral compasses. children...

GustinCentral I wonder how many things grantgust has said in his past that he’s ashamed of. Or any of the other cast members. Everyone is human and said things they shouldn’t have. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar.

I wonder who’ll be the next Dib. What the story for his face change will be. Or will he just be on another mission? 🧐

As a side note, is EW capable of writing an article without using the word 'titular'? Go run a search on your articles...I've rarely read an article that didn't use the word at least once. It was also used ad nauseam on the old Sirius XM spots. Please find a new word!!!
