Australian grandmothers are being turned into money mules by an international criminal network of scammers. 9News

He reported that information to a Gold Coast police station along with 600 pages of messages exchanged with the scammers, but he says the officers weren't interested.

The parcel was delivered to an average suburban home and within three minutes an elderly lady emerged to collect it. The person Mrs. Busuttil had been talking to online calls himself Sgt Major Samuel Spencer from the US Army - a stolen identity of a real soldier - who has wooed her with his romantic prose telling her he loved her and wanted to marry her.

Mary Busuttil initially denied knowing who Nino Martinetti was, but seeing a receipt of the bank transfer into her account jogged her memory.
