We spoke with Nadiya Hussain on her new series, 'Nadiya's Time to Eat,' her quarantine cooking tips and the Queen (of Cake).

Proving that everything good and pure in this world will one day be snatched from us, the news broke this week that Mary Berry, the improbably named, immaculately coiffed cookbook author who has served as a judge on “The Great British Baking Show” since its inception in 2010, will be leaving the series.

When I was on the show, I didn’t really think about the fact that I was a Muslim. I don’t think about my religion all day, every day. It’s just who I am. It was only when it was televised and people knew I was a contestant on “Bake Off” and I started to read some of the negative comments. That’s when I realized it might not be as easy as I imagined it would be, and that, for me, was a bit of shock.
