A brave NHS worker speaks of the heartbreaking moment where he had to choose between two patients to be with as they passed away due toLuke Sumner is one of a collection of doctors and nurses who filmed their work fighting against Covid-19 for a new Channel 4 documentary, discussing the hardships they have been facing along the way.
But in the special NHS Heroes: Fighting For Our Lives, Luke talks about breaking down as two of his patients lost their lives to the virus, and he could only choose one to be with. Luke then continued: ‘Just a couple of days ago, I was torn between two patients and didn’t know which one to stick with as they passed away. One gentleman had family that we were in contact with.‘We managed to connect his daughter to an iPad, so she could be with him, as such, while he passed away.’
‘So I decided to just tell him how peaceful everything has become. There’s no cars on the road, just telling them how much nicer the world is now.‘Through the curtains, all I can hear is this gent’s daughter saying “it’s alright dad, you’re going to be up in heaven with mom again soon. She’s there waiting for you.”‘
Not seen the programme but read the article. I’m a tad weary of all the ‘frontline’ workers posts (Overkill but 👍🏻❤️🌈)This hit home and touched my heart. I’m in hospital a lot & not every medic is nice, professional or empathetic.. so props to LUKE. U R a hero & gave a kindness❤️
