A Chinese-Australian family whose home was targeted in a coronavirus-related act of vandalism receives an outpouring of support from neighbours, celebrities and fellow Australians online.

Numerous people online have spoken up about their experiences of racism in Australia, while others have denounced the attacks.

@MingYLong People have asked how they can help: 1. Reach out to your Asian friends/colleagues and express your dismay re #racism you’ve seen 2. Be an ally when you see racism to support the individual affected #UnityOverFear #IStandWithAsianAustralians #IAmAustralian #WeAreAustralian

Sorry

More fake news, sponsored by Chinese government. ABC needs to come clean about how much money they receive each year from China to report anti-western news. Time for a Royal Commission into how ABC is run.

So disappointing, Australia is so much better than this. You're not only letting the country down but you're letting yourself down. Stay strong.

I hear you - I am embarrassed to be an Australian in light of these barbaric acts

Seems strange the spray painter would use the terms ‘COVID-19’ and ‘China’. There’s several derogatory terms they have used instead. Either the vandal lacked imagination or its an inside job.

All asian are not Chinese. other asian countries like Hongkong andTaiwan. They don't like China. but they don't attack Chinese like this.. this kinds of media will be released to other asian countries too..

Racism in Australia always lies just beneath the surface. For many it’s casual but gets ramped up when something like this arises. For others, they are constantly looking for any opportunity to lash out at a minority. - any crack in our fragile pretence at being “tolerant”.

The Chinese government has blurred the line between Australian Chinese citizens and those Chinese citizens who support the CCP that reside in Australia. The CCP tries everything to split Han Chinese against other races. It's our job to practice societal harmony or they win.

China using the pandemic to grow their global economic and military power is disgraceful. We need an open discussion in our media so that people realise it’s not the Chinese person in the street that is the enemy.

It's all planned, MSM inspired, Leadership sullied. Anyone with a brain not up someone's ass knows this is a US attack upon their own to combat a thriving China. I think one of the prophets said 'forgive them for they do not know what they do'.

Add me on hangout it was janetandrew675gmail.com

I’m so sorry you experienced this. The crimes of the CCP have no reflection on the local Chinese population - almost all I speak with are so angry themselves.

Trust me, I lived in Asia and China has a strong racist discourse running through it's culture. It's not right anywhere but Australia is far from the worst

Privatise their ABC now!

Need to stop the blame game

It took us 200 years to marginally overcome racism, and things are moving backwards overnight. How sad.

These attacks on asians is an absolute disgrace, and should condemned at the highest levels. That level of ignorance and hate is a worry, but thankfully it’s but a few racist numbskulls!

Despicable and un-Australian. Grow up.

We should identify no skin colour. One Australian One identity

Thanks Pauline. You're such a positive influence on Australian politics.

Genuine racist attacks are abhorrent but unfortunately there are many fake ones. Just look at the Jussie Smolet case. How do we know this isn’t one of them.

Why can't you simply call them 'Australians?' Stop putting everyone into categories. Maybe call them Australians with/of Chinese background. This approach accepts they are 100% Australian from the outset.
