Some homeless charities have challenged official figures that show the number of rough sleepers in Dublin is down to just 25

This is the lowest for decades and compares with a high of 184 people counted during the official rough sleeper count in November 2017.

However the Inner City Helping Homeless charity said it has recorded between 74 and 100 rough sleepers a night in Dublin over the past number of weeks. The HSE's clinical lead in the Covid-19 Response Dr Austin O'Carroll said there is now a bed for anyone that wants one with the exception of people travelling from outside Dublin.

Some sleepers will not go into shelters at all...for various reasons...Will never be 0...once they are looked after by these great charities there is hope

If they get 3 more people off the streets, the homeless charities will outnumber the actual homeless.

Ask any essential worker that needs to be in the city centre during this crisis and they will tell you a different story. Way way way over 25. Typical RTE nonsense.
