Celebrities are open to all sorts of criticism. Girls Generation’s Hyoyeon recently received some brickbats after she appeared to be utilising her celebrity status to sell her home for an eye-watering high amount.
According to a real estate company, Hyoyeon submitted her penthouse in a high-rise apartment in Songdo for sale totalling up to 3.7 billion Won at the end of last month. It was said she first purchased the penthouse for 1.25 billion Won in 2012 when the ‘smart city’ of Songdo was still being built. The starlet previously revealed the same luxurious abode on JTBC’s Yurang Market, shocking viewers with the ocean view and modern interiors.
She’s now accused of only appearing on the show to advertise her property for sale. It also turns out that her property is situated in a highly-desired location. A real estate official stated: “There is the effect of the coronavirus, but it's likely to be sold at a high price because it was a star's house that appeared on TV. It's easy to drive to Yeouido, Ilsan, and Gangnam [from the home], and it's close to Incheon International Airport, making it a popular place for people who have to go overseas a lot."
