Johor’s Yee Hern showed tremendous fighting spirit to come from behind and upset Jia Zheng of Selangor 15-21, 21-8, 21-11 in a match that was just two minutes shy of the hour mark at the Selangor Badminton Association Hall yesterday.
The fine victory is a perfect confidence booster for unseeded Yee Hern ahead of his semi-final match against Lim Jhian Meng of Kedah. Jhian Meng needed three games to subdue another youngster from Johor, Chong Jen Son with a scoreline of 21-10, 12-21, 21-12.Meanwhile, it was smooth sailing for the top two seeds in the girls’ singles as Goh Shuen Tong and Ler Yee Huey recorded straight game victories over Kedah’s A. Sahannaa and S. Sanyukta respectively to reach the semi-finals.
