Movie fans in the Mother City will have to find alternative cinemas to get their movie fix from Friday, 6 March.has learned that both the Ster-Kinekor and Nu Metro cinemas will not be in operation at the V&A Waterfront for the foreseeable future.

In a statement to Channel24, Ster-Kinekor said that the Cinema Nouveau will close temporarily for renovations from Friday, 6 March and will return with a"bigger and better offering." Nu Metro's executive management however was unable to give clarity about what the future of its cinema in the Waterfront would be, saying in a statement:"We are unfortunately not in a position to provide further details or comment at this point. A statement will be issued in due course."
