Well it seems mutual. Ben Affleck seemed disenchanted and I'm sure the studio was wanting someone more energetic and younger.
It definitely looked and seemed that way. Dawn of Justice seemed ok but man Justice League was embarrassing. It goes beyond the CGI mustache removal. The whole movie seemed like a drag for all parties involved.

Affleck didn't seem happy with the critical reception to Batman V Superman.. but at least he believed in that story Snyder was telling. Unfortunately, BvS wasn't the big hit it needed to be and WB changed the plans. If it had, I think things would be very different for DC films.

I haven't seen Justice League since it came out but I have to admit I didn't think it was bad. A bit light-hearted next to Batnolan and BvS movies but perfectly watchable. It seems any superhero movie that isn't a 4 or 5 star classic is immediately slammed by fans.

The first problem was scheduling JL to start filming so close to BvSs release. Didn’t have room to breathe after the reaction to BvS and had them scrambling.
He was such a great Batman and you could tell he was proud of his performance in BvS and Zack's JL before the tragedy struck.
