The Oscars have been urged to champion more people of colour in post-Weinstein climate.

This year the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite began trending again after just one non-white actor was recognised - Cynthia Erivo who got the best

actress nod for Harriet. Critics claim there is a wealth of films from non-white talent not represented in the list of nominees Image: Getty

Shouldn’t it go on talent alone? Nothing to do with colour

Why? Isn’t the Oscars meant to be a recognition of talent? When did it become about race equality?

Perhaps a quota per state? Then, in year two, a quota of races per state? Year 3 could introduce diversity by including 1 cast member from each (paid up) UN nation then, maybe, when Disney (US) & Universal (EU) are only 'studios' left, we can go back to 'casting to the plot'.

How about championing people on ability? Nope, that'd be too hard.

Make better movies and you’ll get your recognition. Anyways, it’s only a big circle jerk.

While not championing more people of faith.

Post-Weinstein = Race, huh?
