The Taylor Swift documentary is actually a miraculous body of work in that Taylor spends the entire time—in a film that is supposedly an attempt to speak to her fans—not speaking to them at all. She keeps up the pristine Taylor Swift image, by not saying anything at all. It’s stagecraft, and it’s performed to perfection; that’s why none of this feels like a believable documentary.
