Yeah, kids with these names always want to be named Lori or whatever. I’ve actually grown to like it now. I went through a spell of wanting to be named Gloria, after the Patti Smith song. My parents thought that was really cool, though they were surprised that it was kind of an old-fashioned name. Oddly also, the name Ramona, and those are the two kids of my friend Peter Sarsgaard. He has two girls with Maggie Gyllenhaal.
To be honest, I’m not a huge football person—I’m a baseball fanatic—but I did think it was really cool that this was the first year they have a woman as an assistant coach [the San Francisco 49ers’ Katie Sowers]. It’s really a big deal, she’s the first openly gay football coach. In that world, can you imagine? So I thought, What a great year to do this. Although the 49ers are from San Francisco, where I grew up.
