'I think it's dead,' the country legend said on Martina McBride's podcast

, the country legend pronounced the genre “dead,” adding that “we should never let country music die.”

“They’ve already let it [die],” Lynn, 87, told McBride. “I think it’s dead. I think it’s a shame. I think it’s a shame to let a type of music die. I don’t care what any kind of music it is. Rock, country, whatever. I think it’s a shame to let it die, and I’m here to start feeding it.” When McBride, 53, noted that Lynn seemed “mad” about it, Lynn replied: “Yeah. I’m getting mad about it. I am. Because it’s ridiculous.”

“I’m not happy at all,” the “Coal Miner’s Daughter” singer said. “I think that they’re completely losing it. And I think that’s a sad situation because we should never let country music die. I think that every type of music should be saved, and country is one of the greatest. It’s been around, as far as I’m concerned, longer than any of it.”Later in the podcast, Lynn answered McBride’s question about what she is “the most proud of” in her life.

“My kids,” the country singer responded. “I couldn’t be more proud of my kids. I love my kids so much. That’s my whole life. My life is my kids, and then my music.”

Nonsense. okboomer

Yes

tedgioia Not while we have MissMargoPrice !

Every music genre has its generations. Rock isn’t dead simply because nobody sounds like Buddy Holly right now...hip hop is just fine even though nobody sounds like Run DMC or Grandmaster Flash. Country is fine, it’s just different from what lorettalynn prefers

All Music is Dead. Grammys were proof of that. Just a bunch of noise not even worthy of an Award now.

If you’re the one saying country isn’t dead. I listen to everyone who’s been making it in the 2000s-today. Well.....then you don’t really get it.

LorettaLynn are you high? Country music is strong and it’s better than ever. I’ve hated it all my life and thanks to people like LukeBryanOnline, Jason_Aldean, carrieunderwood, coleswindell, and blakeshelton, I god damn LOVE country music.

Love you Loretta! 💕

It’s definitely not the same tgats for sure

Agree but new music all around sorta sucks. I guess I’m just old school

If you think country music is dead you should just have a listen to the new pop and rock . The world is being taken over by rap and i don't like it one bit !! The times are changin' .

Way better them pop music right now

I agree. I was once a huge fan. Not so much anymore. loved Loretta lynn

There is some great country music still out there, it just doesn't get played on the radio...what we get instead is thirty songs in a row and all I can tell you is it's a twenty something male with a stubbled face singing about trucks and tailgates.
