General Synod to debate action as figures show rise in councils’ spending on procedure

The Church of England is set to challenge the “cruel experience” of paupers’ funerals after recent figures showed UK councils spent more than £6m in 2018-19 on disposal of bodies.

cremations would do, no need for a grave, just cremate and scatter. graves are a bit of a space waster when you think on it.

When my mother died, there wasn't enough money for her funeral. All the family had to lump together. It was horrible, so stressful and left a few of us very out of pocket. Insurance might be criticised as being a rip off but I wish my Mum had had it.
