Breaking down the likelihood of Parasite, 1917Movie or FordvFerrari winning best picture without any acting nods Oscars

Given that actors make up 1,324 of the Academy's 8,469 voting members, their selections may be crucial , especially in a close race, as this appears to be — in contrast to the year ofThe lack of acting nominations is particularly troubling for Sam Mendes'because it has two prominent leads, Dean-Charles Chapman and George MacKay, one of whom is on camera for the film's entire 119 minutes.

Even though screeners have gone out and the World War I drama has pulled big audiences in theaters, there are pockets of voters around the world who need to be lured in. Heremay have an advantage over rivals: It's still playing on some 3,400 screens in North America and has just opened internationally, with only a few territories in Europe and Asia yet to release the film.

For a movie this visual , being viewed in theaters could prove a significant advantage, especially given some technical glitches with the Academy's streaming service .Director and co-writer Mendes needs to get in front of audiences as much as possible. That's not just because he's a charming and likable speaker but also because he brings a personal backstory to the film: It's based on tales his grandfather told him about life as a British soldier.

Mendes has already attended more than a dozen Q&As for the guilds and different awards groups in Los Angeles and other cities, and more than 40 around the world; he'll be back in L.A. for the Jan. 18 Producers Guild Awards, then return to London for the Feb. 2 BAFTA Awards.

It's up to campaigners to remind voters of everything the movie does well, besides acting: the high-wire act of shooting everything to look as if it were one shot; the boldness of killing off the most sympathetic character deep into the story; and the achievement in making a movie that allows people to connect with a time and place none of them ever knew.

George MacKay deserved a nomination.

Yes it can. George MacKay was amazing in his role despite the lack of recognition for it.

Lets travel from A to B. I slept half way

And actually its a shame this film doesnt have acting nominations. It was great film but also great acting there was in it. But if you have no big name, you're not black or act no lgbt character you have 0 attention

1917 is propaganda

Parasite sure can

Well, Parasite is ensemble so DGA nailed it. Sam Mendes is the star of 1917 and Ford vs Ferrari has probably no chance.

SAG Awards Recognize Mostly White Actors After Oscars Diversity BacklashThe best cast win for 'Parasite' was a notable exception during an awards show that saw all four individual film acting awards go to white actors, despite an inclusive slate of nominees. There needs to be one nominee from each major ethnicity nominated for every award, and then each ethnic group takes turns winning each year. That is the only right way to give out trophies for make-believe. If you wouldn't even mention this no blacks getting Oscars ..who would care about it..most of the Movie going public like black actors and the movies thier in..like me! Stop throwing fuel in the fire!
