The government has moved to distance itself from rogue backbencher Craig Kelly, with senior Coalition ministers dismissing his climate change comments as a “sideshow”.
Mr Kelly, who strongly denies the link between climate change and extreme weather conditions, caused major headaches for his party on Tuesday after he made his views known during an appearance on British television. Emergency Services Minister David Littleproud dismissed the Liberal backbenchers’ comments as a “sideshow”. “He doesn’t represent the views of the government,” Mr Littleproud told reporters on Tuesday.
