Martin Scorsese has a new concern: algorithms

Now he’s sounding the alarm about streaming services, not because they detract from the cinematic experience, but because he feels they nudge the viewer to keep watching similar things. “The usual end result of that—and it’s happened to me—is pretty much binge-watching,” he said.

“Ultimately, it’s remarkable that so many movies are being made today, and it’s like a dream we had 50 years ago. You can see them, almost immediately accessible, just like that,” he said. “In the old days you’d have to go from theater to theater. You have to wait in line, get a seat. I’m short and the people in front of me were tall. I couldn’t see anything!”

Oh...really? A little late...

That’s so weird I never use that feature. Don’t worry so much, Martin
