The Employees Provident Fund has apologised over an incident where a cancer-stricken bed-ridden woman was made to show up at its Johor Bahru office in order to withdraw her contributions to the retirement fund."EPF has contacted the family to understand the situation better.
"The officer's answer was disappointing. He said it can't be done and the contributor must show up at the office for fingerprint verification by machine. At the EPF office, Nur Sheila said the rented ambulance also ran into difficulties as security asked it to move so as not to obstruct the front entrance.

EPF should emulate Maybank. I remembered around 7 years ago. One of the officers came over my father's house whom is bed ridden just to obtain his fingerprint to assist with his pension withdrawal.
When others find loopholes to by-pass or abuse the EPF withdrawal system. EPF becomes wary and more careful. Making genuine cases like this suffer.
