Film editor, Katie Bryer captures acts of human kindness in the most brutal of places.

This film is about an ongoing situation - the plight of the Rohingya who have been persecuted for generations in Myanmar. Violence broke out in Rakhine state in 2017 and 740,000 people fled from genocide, rape and ethnic cleansing, for which nobody has been held to account. Our short film focuses on just one Rohingya refugee, Kamal, who has devoted his life to helping other refugees. He spends his days reuniting families in the largest refugee camp on earth.

The biggest challenge was to always keep Kamal's journey at the centre of our narrative. There were so many incredible and terrible stories from the children but if you focus too much on another character your film becomes less engaging. Every individual story had to relate to Kamal's story for it to be powerful. Each reunion had to feel different and not so harrowing that it became unbearable to watch. We had some humour in there and plenty of hope.
