Reuben have emerged as the surprise owners of a piece of art at the center of a global art scandal.
The complaint, as seen in court documents, claims that Guzzini had bought the artwork in June 2017 from London art dealer Inigo Philbrick for $6 million . However, the sources of the controversy concerns the two other firms that now claim to have held stakes in the “the Stingel” before the Reubens. During January 2016, London art dealer Inigo Philbrick issued an invoice for a “50% share” in the Stingel for $3.35 million to Aleksandar Pesko through an entity called Satfinance Investment Ltd.
